Q: What is Muay Thai?
A: Muay Thai is a system of fighting that originates from Thailand and comprises punches, kicks, knees and elbows.
Q: What is the difference between MTI and those kickboxing classes at your local fitness gym?
A: Kickboxing classes in fitness gyms are just an aerobic exercise – no proper techniques are taught. At MTI you will learn authentic Thai Kickboxing techniques that can equip you to defend yourself, as well as improve your general level of fitness and help you lose weight. Our instructors have many years of authentic Muay Thai training.
Q: What if I have never trained before?
A: We have classes cater for all levels from beginner to champion
Q: I am unfit – are the classes hard?
A: Each class is as hard as you make it, but you will be motivated and encouraged all along the way. Getting fit is fun, but it does require effort on your part.
Q: What should I wear?
A: Shorts and a T-shirt or singlet, with running shoes/trainers for skipping.
Q: I only want to train for fitness, do I have to fight or spar?
A: Many people train for fitness and self defence. Sparring and fighting are optional.
Q: Can I come to training by myself, or do I need to bring a friend?
A: Most people arrive at training on their own, but if you have a friend who also wants to join, they are very welcome.
Q: I want to learn to fight. Can you teach me?
A: We have the skill and experience to train you to compete at regional, national or international level if you choose.
